Funerals

Funerals by a Celebrant Gold Coast

This small quote may seem a very hard concept at the time of losing a loved one.  No matter whether you were prepared for the day, or if it has come as a total shock, you and your family feel “numb”… there is no other word to quite explain it. With the numbness is the confusion, the decisions to be made, it seems you are on an emotional roller coaster and in your heart you just want everything to stand still… In fact, you would prefer everything to just go back to how it all was just the other day!

The funeral service itself is a time when you must acknowledge the loss of your loved one, but always remember it need not be a sombre occasion. A funeral is the occasion to celebrate the life of your loved one. A funeral allows permission and encouragement to grieve openly and deeply; to allow emotions to surface and not be judged; to speak honestly of the deceased in a eulogy so that the loss and intense feelings can be shared with all present.

Acknowledge the special memories; memories that may well make you smile, and quite often, laugh. These are the memories that will remain and maintain you through all the years… To declare that while life will never be the same as it was, it will be enriched by the memories and continuing influences of your loved one.

The major arrangements, of course, would be done through your chosen Funeral Director and, often or not, they will ask whether you would like a religious minister or a civil celebrant to officiate at the service. The choice is completely yours and whatever would make you and your family feel more comfortable. You may wish to nominate your own celebrant and your Funeral Director should be more than happy for you to do so.

Remember, when planning a service you can include any appropriate elements, say words that speak to the heart and mind clearly and directly. Share simple, meaningful rituals that reflect the life of your loved one, such as memento’s, words, symbols, music, candles, etc.

Share the service and include all those who shared the love and choose to be involved – your service will become far more meaningful and memorable for your family.

Preparation, consultation and attention to detail are the keys to create your perfect funeral service. This is true regardless of the style of funeral you want - traditional or contemporary, formal or informal, large or small.

The only necessities, the only “shoulds”, are determined by the needs and desires of those who survive and grieve. When death confronts you, do those things that are especially meaningful and helpful to you.

It is my responsibility, after a meeting with you and your family, to prepare and present a professional funeral service, one which touches universal, timeless, yet personal needs directly and honestly, with dignity, feeling and beauty.

I am happy to travel to your Gold Coast funeral venue.
