Baby Naming
A name giving ceremony is a fulfilling and meaningful experience to celebrate the birth of a new baby. It is a special occasion that can be shared with your family and friends. A naming ceremony can also be used to celebrate adopted or step children becoming part of a new family.
It is a celebration for your child’s future, a cultural expression of joy, hope and acceptance. It is welcoming a child into a family and the world, to remind all concerned of the great responsibility involved in bringing up a child and to recognise and appoint those who will have an important role in the child’s development – the God Parents (or Guardian Parents).
Any parent can arrange a naming ceremony, whether they are married or not, and irrespective of spiritual, religious or cultural backgrounds.
The ceremony includes:
- Welcoming the child into the family unit.
- Announcing the names that have been chosen for the child and the reasons/meanings behind the names.
- Making promises and commitments to nurture and support the child through to their adult life.
- The choice of adding a Naming Ritual, for example – the wishing tree, wishing bowl, releasing of balloons, etc – a way for all your guests to have the opportunity to give their personal blessing to this special child.
- Choosing other adults and/or family members who are prepared to promise a special supportive relationship to the child.
A vast number of choices for the different sections of your naming ceremony are available to make it one that you, your family and friends, will remember and cherish in the years to come. Once you’ve made your choices, I’ll create unique words for your child’s naming ceremony, words that uniquely reflect you, your child and your wishes, dreams and blessings for the life journey your beautiful child has just begun.
Services provided include:
- If a large celebration, a public address system ensuring all of your guests will hear your ceremony.
- Your child's Naming Certificate and Certificates for the God Parents (or Guardians), a copy of your Ceremony beautifully presented and a professional presentation of your ceremony on the day.
My Fee
Whatever your choice of ceremony style, simple or complex; traditional, contemporary or sacred; and irrespective of size; preparation, consultation and attention to detail is the key to create your perfect ceremony. I understand that everyone’s wishes differ and each ceremony is created to reflect your personal and unique dreams for your child’s future; therefore, the fees for each ceremony differ according to the complexity of the ceremony itself. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your ceremony and I shall happily, obligation free, discuss with you the applicable fee.
I am happy to travel to your Gold Coast venue including Tamborine Mountain and all Gold Coast beaches, parks and suburbs for ceremonies.
